We’ll be holding our annual general meeting which will include the treasurer’s report and look to pass a motion to disband the group as an incorporated organisation and reform as a significant interest group of the Open Source Developers’ Club.

If this motion fails to pass, we will hold elections for the next year’s committee members.

Media streaming is taking the world by storm. While it’s not a new technology, recent improvements in home and mobile Internet connectivity, bandwidth costs and corporate adoption have led to a recent spurt in the number of media streaming solutions.

Ben will present the findings in his paper which investigates the latest services that leverage live media streaming as a core service offering and the open source tools that can be used to power such services to replicate these tools. The findings are equally applicable to non-live and video on demand media streaming, which benefit from the removal of Internet uplink speed limitations.

Ben has been investigating the use of cloud computing and will give a short primer on what it is, when it’s useful and when it’s not.

We’re a little short on speakers this month, as evidenced by a single speaker attempting to entertain you for an hour or so. If you’d like to take the stand and talk about your project, rehearse your OSDC presentation or just demo something, please feel free to do so. This could just be a 2 minute thing or a half hour presentation.
